Added some P90X into the Shred.....

I'm still doing the Shred but have been wanting to do a bit more for my abs, so my Husband suggested his P90X DVD's.  Now remember, the last time I tried P90X I was close to upchucking and was sick for the rest of the day, so I was pretty hesitant to try it again, but I did.....

The Abs workout is 20 minutes long with no resting.  It goes from one move (25reps) to the next.  I have to admit, I held my food down okay, but couldn't quite keep up the whole way through.  I didn't do the last 5 minutes worth of side-sit-ups because my back is still a bit messed up, but I can tell I'm going to be sore tomorrow.

I did Level 1 today with 5lbs, and following Natalie (the more advanced one), and using the weights during the Punching.  Level 1 is still a great workout, so if you feel like you're not ready to advance to the next level, stick with Level 1 for awhile.  =)

I'm going to purchase on of JM's other workout DVD's....possible the Cardio one.  Has anyone else tried one of JM's other DVD's.  If so, which ones do you like, dislike etc?

  1. OK, so yesterday I got cleared to start easing myself into a workout regimen... But I'm a little worried that this might be a bit too much for "easing" in??? What are your thoughts? I can do what I want BUT can't lift over 20LBS for 6 months?!? I was reasonably active before surgery, but haven't done anything for 12 weeks now. Should I start off with the Shred or wait a few more weeks?

  2. You can start off with Shred, and just modify your moves. There are two gals in the background....one advanced, the other easy. Follow the easier one.
I would also start off with 2-lbs weights. That sounds like nothing but trust me, it'll be enough.
Another one of my ladies doing the Shred told me that she still can't quite keep up with Jillian, but she has still lost a significant amount of weight, just doing what she can. She's been doing it for a little over a month, but is still on Level 1. I wouldn't push the other levels until you're body is ready.
Good luck and let me know how it goes. =)

  3. A quick update... Started with the level 1 beginner, and moved up to advanced in a couple days... Totally bummed that I didn't lose any weight or inches ~but I did notice that I am feeling a bit tighter and my back feels a little thinner. On day 8 I moved to level 2. I may have died a little... My elbows and knees are really bothering me, so I took a couple days off. I will get back to it Friday and hopefully a couple days of recovery will help bump the weight??? (I can dream can't I??)

  4. I'm a little late getting to this, but I started the Shred yesterday. I tried the video in Dec, but then Jon and I went on vacation and I didn't bring it. Long story longer, I started yesterday :) I did not make it through the first five min cause I had a migraine, light sensitivity and all. But I at least I started haha. And I just finished day 2, it's a real butt kicker. I am determined to make my goal by my bday or earlier. So, cheers to 2011 and Shred!

  5. Heather......DON'T LOOK AT THE SCALE!!! You're going to be gaining muscle-weight. Remember, muscle weights more than fat so you may loose, gain, loose, gain. Did you measure yourself? Or are you fitting better in your jeans?

  6. Hi Shandy. You're definitely going to feel sore, but just keep going. That first week is the hardest, but week 2 will get easier. =)

  7. I watch the scale only to keep an eye on my body fat. The number itself isn't so much the concern as the way clothes feel, body feels, etc... I did measure and no loss. I have taken a couple weeks off for the holidays hoping that my knee, hip, elbow would feel better (no luck~ they are all 3 still KILLING me even after a trip to the chiropractor...). But holidays are over, kids are all home safely, and I plan to lose some of this rear this year!!!
